About Last Keep
Last Keep is a strategy game that blends survivors-like action with base defense in a fantasy setting. CakeLoverr made it, and it runs in the browser on itch.io. The game is in development and described as a free alpha. Players defend a keep against an undead horde arriving through four portals. It supports solo play and local co-op for two players. The focus on protecting a stronghold gives the fantasy siege a clear strategic objective.
Gameplay and choices in Last Keep
In Last Keep, you guide an invulnerable knight whose attacks happen automatically. You can move, dash, and use Shockwave while recruiting swordguards, archers, and mages to help defend the keep. Each level offers three upgrade cards, and boss relics and permanent upgrades can shape later runs. You also need to respond to portal spawns, announced surges, elite skeletons, and enemies that sabotage towers. In local co-op, players share the army, experience, and keep.
What sets Last Keep apart
Last Keep makes the keep itself the vulnerable center of a survivors-like battle. The knight can pass through danger, but skeletons that reach the stronghold put the run at risk. That creates a defense challenge across four fronts, with towers, recruited units, and upgrade choices to consider. The creator also describes random portal spawns, enemy surges, and tower saboteurs, which give the siege changing pressures. It is a playable work in progress, currently presented as a free alpha.
Is Last Keep for you?
Last Keep may appeal to fantasy RPG fans who enjoy managing defenders and upgrades while guiding a hero through a siege. Strategy players can watch several fronts and adapt to enemy pressure, while solo players and pairs can choose their preferred mode. It is listed as a free alpha and remains in development, so expect a work in progress rather than a finished release. The game runs in a browser on itch.io; the creator also lists Windows.
