Your Azeroth Survivors save file stays with the browser or Windows copy where you play. It does not automatically follow you to another browser, computer, or build, so moving progress takes a manual export and import. You can also keep local backups and use Cloud Saves as a manual backup service.

Where Is Your Azeroth Survivors save file Stored?

In a browser, progress is kept in the browser where you play. That means a save made in one browser does not automatically appear in another browser, even if you use the same computer. It also does not follow you to another computer or to a different game build. Treat each place you play as its own copy of your progress.

The Windows build keeps progress on that Windows copy. Its exported saves go into that installation’s Saves folder, and the Open Saves Folder button takes you to the folder used for exports. The folder is tied to that installation, so an exported file is useful when you want to move progress to another copy.

A browser copy can also keep automatic progress backups. They stay on the browser copy that created them, so they do not act as a portable transfer by themselves. If you are learning the game or comparing character choices, you can keep a separate reference open, such as the classes guide or build guides.

How Do You Export a Save File?

Exporting gives you a separate file that you can keep or move yourself. In a browser, use the game’s save export option; the browser downloads one file. Its name uses the AzerothSurvivors prefix, a date and time, and the .sav extension. Keep the downloaded file somewhere you can find when you need to restore or transfer progress.

On the Windows build, choose Export Save. The file is written into that installation’s Saves folder. If you need to locate exported saves, choose Open Saves Folder to open the folder used for save exports. This gives you a local copy you can move to another browser or PC as part of a transfer.

Export before replacing progress on another copy if you may want to preserve what is already there. It is also a useful step before restoring a local backup, since that restore changes the progress on the copy you are using. For other game setup questions, the how to play guide covers the basics of getting started.

How to Import an Azeroth Survivors save file on Another Browser or PC

To transfer progress, export the save from the copy that has the progress you want, move the file yourself, then import it on the other copy. Browser import accepts .sav and .txt files. A browser save does not move automatically between browsers or computers, so the export and import steps are what carry it across.

Before importing on another device, export its existing progress if you want to preserve it. Import Save asks whether to replace all progress with the selected file’s progress. Read that confirmation before continuing: importing replaces the destination’s progress instead of combining the two saves. If you cancel the confirmation, the current progress stays in place.

After a successful import, the game reports that the file’s progress is now on that copy. You can then continue from that copy with the imported progress. If you need help with another part of the game, browse the wiki or the troubleshooting guide.

What Do Save Errors Mean?

A file that is not an Azeroth Survivors save is rejected. Check that you selected the exported file you meant to use, then try the import again with an accepted .sav or .txt file. If the game says a damaged or edited save cannot be read, it could not use that file’s contents. Try another copy if you have one.

A separate read error may show the filename and an error detail. Use the filename to identify which file was selected, and keep the detail with the error message if you need to distinguish it from another failed attempt. A write error means the game could not write the save; the message includes the write error detail.

These messages describe different problems: an unrecognized file is not a game save, an unreadable file is damaged or edited, and a write error reports a problem while saving. Keep any other exported copy available before trying a different file. If an error appears while you are moving progress, make sure you have not chosen the destination’s only copy to replace.

How Do You Keep Your Progress Safe?

The game keeps an automatic progress backup for every hour played and retains the last five. Find them under Options → Saves → Backups. These backups remain on the copy that created them, so they are useful for restoring that copy but do not transfer progress to another device. Before restoring a local backup, export the current save if you may want to keep it.

Cloud Saves is a manual backup service, not automatic syncing. Upload an exported .sav file to make a backup; when you need it, download that file and import it on the copy where you want the progress. Each completed upload creates a separate backup. Files are private to the signed-in account, which can download or delete them.

Cloud Saves allows 25 MiB per account, 5 MiB per file, and a maximum of 100 backups. An interrupted upload or deletion may take up to two hours for reserved space to be reconciled. Keep a local copy of an important Azeroth Survivors save file as well. Clearing a browser’s site data removes its in-browser progress and backups; if storage is cleared, the backup list is empty, and no exported file exists, these steps offer no further copy to restore.

Azeroth Survivors Save File FAQ

Can I use my browser save file on another browser?

Yes, export the save and move the file yourself, then import it in the other browser. The imported progress replaces that browser copy’s progress.

Does an Azeroth Survivors save file merge with progress on a new PC?

No, importing replaces all progress on the destination copy rather than merging saves. Export the destination’s existing progress first if you want to preserve it.

What happens if I cancel the import confirmation?

Canceling leaves the current progress in place. The replacement only happens if you continue with the import.

Where can I find automatic backups?

Open Options → Saves → Backups to see the automatic backups on that copy. They stay on the browser or Windows copy that created them.

What should I keep before changing devices?

Export the current progress and keep the file locally, then import it on the other copy. An Azeroth Survivors save file kept locally gives you a copy alongside any Cloud Saves backup.
